Uzbekistan to direct 1.8 trln. soums to roads in 2016

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to construct and reconstruct automobile roads with the length of 512.9 km in 2016.
Over 1.8 trillion soums will be directed to road construction and repair works, the Republican Road Fund officials said at the press conference.
Due to resources of the World Bank for US$200 million it is planned to repair roads of local importance in Tashkent, Andijan, Ferghana and Namangan regions with total length of 376 km, UzA reported.
It is planned to purchase 993 units of equipment and 38 road construction complexes in 2015-2019 to carry out repair and maintenance of roads.
In 2010-2014, resources of the Republican Road Fund, some 7,700 km of automobile roads were repaired and reconstructed. About 1,474 km of them are internal roads.
Over 2 trillion soums of the Fund’s resources were directed to constriction and reconstruction, as well as repair of roads of general use. About 254 billion soums of them were used to repair internal roads of the cities and roads of newly created standard rural blocks.
This year, it is planned that the Republican Road Fund and the international financial institutions will allocate 1.543 trillion soums for the construction and repair of roads with the length of 376.3 km.
