Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Korea signed a Memorandum on cooperation, as well as in framework of A-WEB.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov and the Secretary General of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) and the National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Korea Kim Young-Hi signed the document.
The document will serve as the exchange of experiences in the field of improvement of the national laws on elections and election practices, the information on the preparation and holding of elections, the realization of joint activities and projects aimed at the introduction of modern information and communication technologies (ICT) in the electoral process.
The memorandum was signed after the negotiations between Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov and Kim Young-Hi in Tashkent on 2 February 2016.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on cooperation of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Election Commission of the Republic of Korea, including in the framework of A-WEB.
The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a full member of the Association of World Election Bodies. A-WEB was established as an international organization in October 2013, with headquarters in Incheon (the Republic of Korea). It currently consists of 106 election bodies from 102 countries.
Its purpose is to promote international cooperation in exchanging information and experience about organizing and holding open and transparent elections, as well as support to the election authorities in strengthening and development of the institutional and legal frameworks, professional component of democratic elections.
