Tashkent region implements projects for US$26bn

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Currently, Tashkent region is implementing 26 projects for US$2.558 billion, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said last week.
He noted that the these projects are implemented in such sectors as mining, chemical and petrochemical industries.
Islam Karimov underlined that Ammophos-Maxam, located in Chirchiq, is implementing three projects for US$136 million to modernize production of mineral fertilizers and establishment of new production facilities in current year.
President noted that over past three years, some 1050 projects have been implemented in Tashkent region. In particular, investment worth US$2.7 trillion soums and US$532 million were utilized, as well as about 30,000 new jobs have been created.
In addition, cycle plant with production capacity of 370 megawatts of electricity has been built at Tashkent Thermal Power Plant, which enabled to save natural gas consumption twice.
