Uzbekistan posts GDP for 24.72 trln soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan increased 9.4% year-on-year to 24.72 trillion soums in January-September 2008, State Statistic Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The industrial output grew 12.4% year-on-year to 16.762 trillion soums and agriculture output rose 4.1% year-on-year to 7.686 trillion soums.
The country produced consumer goods for 5.164 trillion soums, which is 18.4% more year-on-year.
Investments to fixed capital grew 22.4% to 5.809 trillion soums in nine months of this year.
Construction works rose 8.4% year-on-year to 2.482 trillion soums in January-September 2008.
Retail trade turnover increased 15% year-on-year to 8.735 trillion soums in nine months of 2008. The volume of rendered services comprised 3.022 trillion soums (up 19.3% year-on-year).
Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan increased 40.9% year-on-year to US$15.732 billion. The country’s exports rose strongly to US$10.097 billion (up 62.92%). Uzbekistan imported goods and services for US$5.634 billion (up 13.5%).
State Statistic Committee said the current account balance surplus comprised US$4.462 billion in the reporting period.
Monetary income of population of Uzbekistan grew 33.1% to 15.779 trillion soums and monetary expenses and savings rose 31.3% to 15.434 trillion soums in the reporting period.
The population spent 1.664 trillion soums to purchase goods and services in January-September 2008 or grew 32.3% year-on-year.
