Latipov and Giyasov advance to finals of World Boxing Championships

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Two boxers from Uzbekistan progressed to the finals of World Boxing Championships in Hamburg (Germany) and won at least two silver medals.

Jasurbek Latipov defeated Inkyu Kim of South Korea in the weight category of up to 52 kg.

Shakhram Giyasov beat Kazakhstan’s Ablaikhan Zhussopov in the weight category of up to 69 kg and advanced to the finals of the tournament.

Bektemir Melikuziev faced Joseph Ward from Ireland. Melikuziev lost the bout on decision of the judges and won the bronze medal of the World Boxing Championships.

The final bouts will take place on 2 September.

On 31 August, representatives of Uzbekistan Hasanboy Dusmatov (up to 49 kg) and Ikboljon Kholdorov (up to 64 kg) became finalists of the World Championships-2017. In the weight category up to 81 kg, Sanjar Tursunov became the winner of the bronze medal.
