Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and China held a regular meeting of the intergovernmental committee on cooperation in Tashkent on 9 September.
The delegation of China led by Politburo member, secretary of the Political and Legal Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, co-chairman of the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee Meng Jianzhu arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in this event.
The Uzbek delegation was headed by the Uzbek Prime Minister and co-chairman of the Uzbek-Chinese intergovernmental cooperation committee Abdulla Aripov.
At the meeting, the delegations of Uzbekistan and China discussed development of cooperation in the field of investment, energy, oil and gas, high technology and other areas.
The sides also considered implementation of agreements reached between the leaders of Uzbekistan and China.
A business forum also took place within the framework of the meeting of the intergovernmental committee. Business circles of Uzbekistan and China discussed issues of developing and implementing joint projects, investment, financial and technical cooperation, stimulating direct contacts between business entities of the two countries.
China is one of the major trade and investment partners of Uzbekistan. In Uzbekistan there are more than 700 companies and enterprises with the participation of China’s investments. Of these, 88 were created entirely on the basis of Chinese investment. About 73 companies in China have their offices in Uzbekistan.
