Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan intend to increase bilateral trade to US$5 billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan intend to increase bilateral trade up to US$5 billion by 2020, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated after talks with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent.
Kazakh President said that decision of Uzbekistan to reduce excise taxes on some imported goods positively impacted trade cooperation. He said that bilateral trade rose by 35% in seven months of 2017 in the result. He added that this is a very good result.
Nazarbaev said that the side set a task to increase bilateral trade turnover to US$5 billion by 2020. He added that the Governments were instructed to increase mutually beneficial cooperation and use of all the unused reserves
“We agreed to implement 2-3 large joint investment projects in the medium term. Cooperation between our countries in the gas industry is developing effectively. The governments are instructed to work out new gas projects taking into account interests of both sides,” Nursultan Nazarbaev said.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan reached US$2 billion. In the first half of 2017, bilateral trade between two nations rose by 11.4% - to US$953 million.
