Some 41,000 new businesses created in Uzbekistan in 2017

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2017 the number of newly created enterprises and organizations made up over 41,000 in Uzbekistan, which is 25.2% more than the same period last year.
At the same time, the number of enterprises and organizations that ceased their activity, as compared to the same period of the last year, decreased by 2.7% and amounted to 26,500 units, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
As a result, the number of operating enterprises and organizations has increased by 6.4% (17,100 units) since the beginning of the year and amounted to 285,500 units.
The largest share of operating enterprises and organizations is observed in Tashkent city (21.5%), Tashkent (9.4%), Ferghana (9.0%) and Andijan (8.6%) regions.
Decrease in the share in operating enterprises and organizations by types of economic activity in comparison with the same period of the last year is observed in the sphere of health and social services (-1.1 percentage points), in trade (-0.9 percentage points) , in the sphere of information and communication and other services (by 0.1 percentage points), which is caused by the growth of specific weights in the sphere of industry (+1.0 percentage points), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (+0, 6 percentage points), construction (+0.3 percentage points), housing and food services (+0.2 percentage points), as well as transportation and storage (+ 0.1 percentage points).
The share of operating in the total number of registered enterprises and organizations was 95.1%, respectively, the proportion of inactive in the total number of enterprises and organizations was 4.9%, which is 1.1 percentage points less than in the beginning of the reporting year.
About 22.1% of the total number of operating enterprises and organizations account for the share of enterprises and organizations in the sphere of trade, 17.2% in industry, 8.5% in construction, 7.4% in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 6.0% in housing and food services, 4.2% in transportation and storage, 2.2% in information and communication, 2.0% in health and social services, and 30.4% in other services spheres of economic activity.
