Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan makes up US$27bn in 2017

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan in January-December of 2017 made up US$27 billion, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
Exports of Uzbekistan reached about US$14.0 billion and imports - US13.0 billion. The balance of foreign trade amounted to US$945.5 million.
In recent years, the structure of exports has changed in the republic and there is an increase in almost all groups of goods and services.
Export of machinery and equipment increased with the same period last year by 60.1%, due to export of transformers and batteries by 54.8%, cable-conductor products by 33.3%, boilers, equipment and mechanical devices and their parts by 24.0%.
The volume of exports of food products increased by 26.1%, due to increased exports of alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic beverages by 61.1%, wheat by 32.2% and fruit and vegetable products and processed products by 15.6%.
The increase in exports of ferrous and non-ferrous metals to 29.5% is observed due to the increase in zinc and its products by 45.4%, aluminum and its products by 80.0% and copper and its products by 34.7%.
In the structure of imports, the bulk is accounted for by machinery and equipment - 38.9% and chemical products and products from it - 16.5%.
Share of services in total exports is 25.1%, where 11.5% occupy transport services, and 11.3% account for travel services
For January-December of 2017, the balance of foreign trade made up US$945.5 million, including with the CIS countries - US$809.5 million and with other countries US$136.0 million.
Among the CIS countries the main foreign trade partners are Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which account for 28.7% of the foreign trade turnover, among other countries—China, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Germany, Afghanistan, Brazil, India, Iran, Latvia, Lithuania, France, the United States, Italy, which account for 41.6% of the total foreign trade turnover.
The volume of exports of fruits and vegetables and processed products was 708.8 million US dollars, or increased compared to the same period last year by 15.6%. Of the total volume of fruit and vegetable products and products of its processing, the share of fruits and berries is 35.9% (increased by 17.0% as compared to the same period of the last year), vegetables - 30.7% (18.6%), grapes- 22.5% (12.2%), fruits and vegetables processing products - 4.1% (49.9%). The main foreign trade partners are Kazakhstan (out of a total of 46.4%), Russia (18.0%), Afghanistan (6.6%), China (5.7%), Turkey (4.5%), Kyrgyzstan (4.3%) and Iraq (1.7%).
In 2017, the share of exports of textiles in total exports was 8.1%. The volume of exports of textile products amounted to US$1.13 billion or increased compared with the same period last year by 22.8%.
