Uzbekistan to electrify railway section “Marokand-Navoi”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will direct US$57.7 million to electrify the railway section of Marokand-Navoi.
This is stated in the draft resolution of the President of Uzbekistan "On measures to implement the investment project "Electrification of the railway section of Marokand-Navoi”. The document is published on the portal for discussion of draft normative legal acts.
In the explanatory note to the document it is said that new electrified railway line with the length of 135 km was built in Uzbekistan, which ensures the speed of high-speed passenger trains up to 250 km/h.
At the same time, this project did not envisage electrification of the existing railway section of Marakand-Navoi, taking into account the approved limits of capital investments.
Within the framework of the project it is planned to electrify Marokand-Navoi railway station with a total length of 157.1 km, construction of security facilities (crossings, security posts, railroads), modernization of alarm systems and telecommunications.
The estimated amount of capital investment of the electrification project of the Marokand-Navoi railway section is US$57.7 million.
Uzbekistan Temir Yollari will invest US$39.4 million into this project. The volume of centralized investment will be US$17.67 million.
The centralized investments will be used to purchase equipment and material and modernize communication devices.
The project will be implemented in 2018-2020.
