Uzbekistan takes measures to stabilize prices in domestic market

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has adopted “road maps” to provide additional revenues to the budget and stabilize prices in the domestic market. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan approved a plan of measures to curb the level of inflation in the third quarter of this year, which was developed by the Ministry of Economy to ensure price stability in the domestic market and to fully meet the population’s demand for basic types of food products.
This Plan of Measures envisages saturation of the domestic market with basic consumer goods, by implementing measures to timely re-sowing of the main types of agricultural products and providing farmers and dehkan farms with seeds, mineral fertilizers in the required volume and import of basic types of consumer goods, including rice in the amount of 29,400 tonnes till September 2018.
Within the document, it is planned to complete works on modernization of existing brick enterprises with the purpose of using an alternative type of fuel (coal) in the period 2018-2020, which will reduce the forced downtime.
According to the Ministry of Economy, in January-June, the price of certain types of consumer goods decreased in Uzbekistan, such as: poultry meat - by 6.6%, eggs by 17.6%, cottonseed oil by 2.3%, potato- by 43.6%, onion by 37.9%, cucumbers by 75.5%, by tomatoes by 68.4%, by sugar by 11.4% and others.
At the same time, the prices for some goods grew, including meat products by 13.1%, including beef - 17.6%, lamb - 16.6%, fish - 24.0%, milk - 6.0%, rice - 36.5%, apple 43.7%, cabbage 47.0%, carrots 39.1%, building materials 17.3% (including: bricks 53.3%, cement 20, 5%), propane - 54.2%, and others.
