Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the top-level participation in the Dynamic Gujarat-2019 International Summit, a number of events were held, including on 17 January - a meeting of the Uzbek-Indian Business Council, the Uzbekistan Country Seminar and a demonstration of the national stand of the republic comprehensive exhibition "Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show".
For the 9th time, the state of Gujarat becomes the center of attraction for government delegations, international financial institutions, representatives of the largest world companies successfully operating in the global market. For the first time Uzbekistan is represented at the event, as one of the partner countries of the largest and most significant event in India - the Dynamic Gujarat Summit - 2019.
The Uzbek delegation included about 20 representatives of state structures and national companies of the republic. On the part of the State Investment Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sukhrob Holmuradov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Chairman of the State Investment Committee takes part in the events.
2018 marked a significant progress the development of bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan. As part of the first official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to India last September, powers of attorney were reached to implement 62 investment agreements in the areas of health care, pharmaceuticals, the textile and food industries, the defense complex, tourism, education, ICT and other areas totaling about US$3 billion. In order to strengthen interaction with the business structures of the countries, a protocol was signed on establishment of the Uzbek-Indian Business Council.
As part of the implementation of the approved Roadmap, with the assistance of the State Investment Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 11 Indian companies visited Uzbekistan to discuss the conditions and current state of projects being implemented.
Implementation of new investment projects with OENGIS Videsh companies for US$200 million to conduct exploration work with subsequent development of promising oil and gas bearing areas, with San Group India - a project to develop tungsten deposits for US$300 million. With a number of leading Indian companies started cooperation on 6 projects worth US$68 million to create modern textile production in Namangan, Khorezm and Tashkent regions.
In addition, during 2018, with the participation of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, investment and business forums were organized with the participation of the Uzbek-Indian business circles, chambers of commerce of both countries, both in Uzbekistan and in India.
The first meeting of the Uzbek-Indian Business Council became a platform for discussing the development of trade and investment cooperation in such areas as the manufacture and production of food, textile and leather products, health and tourism, and the services sector.
On the eve of the Business Council, on 16 January, a project on the established Uzbek-Indian pharmaceutical zone in Andijan region for representatives of 20 Indian pharmaceutical companies was presented. Following the results, the issue of establishing a pharmaceutical enterprise in Andijan region, with the participation of Indian investments, was discussed.
The delegation of Andijan region presented 17 projects at the international summit. As a result, signing of bilateral documents, conclusion of large contracts and trade contracts between representatives of Indian and Uzbek companies is expected.
On 18 January, Uzbekistan Country Seminar was held within the Dynamic Gujarat-2019 Summit Program.
The main focus of the presentations was on promising areas of technological and innovative cooperation, the production of modern building materials and the creation of cotton-textile clusters, as well as the accelerated implementation of agreements reached during the visit at the highest level.
The exhibition features the National Stand of Uzbekistan, where 16 major national companies - JSC Uzavtosanoat, JSC Uzagrotekhsanoat Holding, JSC Uzeltehsanoat, HC Uzbekozikovkatholding, Association Uzbekcharmsanoat, JSC Uzkimyosanoat, AGMK, NGMK and others, presented their products and demonstrated the scientific and production potential of the republic for the realization of wide opportunities for investment projects.
