CEC says 96 candidates elected to Legislative Chamber

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Uzbekistan Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Mirzaulugbek Abdusalomov, announced on 28 December that 96 candidates had been elected to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
Abdusalomov said in a two-week term, the second round of elections will be held for 39 seats in the lower house of the parliament. Uzbekistan held parliamentary polls on 27 December.
Legislative Chamber has 150 seats, 135 of which are to be filled by parties while the remaining 15 will go to the Environmental Movement of Uzbekistan.
