Elephant dies in Tashkent Zoo

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An elephant named Putra died in Tashkent Zoo. The Zoo said that the elephant was found lying on morning 18 October 2014.
Putri, female elephant, did not allow Zoo employees to provide help to Putra. The Zoo staff was able to approach Putra after it died.
Mortem autopsy revealed a surprising fact for a 13-year-old elephant. The elephant died from myocardial infarction caused by arteriosclerosis. The fat was found in the cavity of the heart and major blood vessels.
Tashkent Zoo said that it received Putra (Prince) and Putri (Princess) in 2014 from Malaysia’s Zoo Melaka within animal exchange programme.
The zoo said that the elephant had health problems after arrival in Tashkent. The zoo invited Malaysian specialists to provide medical treatment to the elephant.
