Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of sales of non-ferrous metals at the Uzbek Commodity Exchange (UZEX) in 2 months of 2015 reached 5,200 tonnes, which rose by 8% compared to the same period of 2014, the press service of the exchange said.
In the reporting period, largest share (96%) of deals with non-ferrous metals fell to share of cathode copper and copper wire. The price for copper cathodes, which is directly depends on world prices, decreased in January and February. The fall of prices is also connected with the growth of supply. About 1,400 tonnes of cathode copper were put for sale in January and 1,700 tonnes n February.
This allowed local processing enterprises, first of all cable producers, to increase export of products with high added value.
