Uzbekistan’s light industry increases production of goods in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increased production of cotton yarn by 49.1% year-on-year to 98,400 tonnes in the first half of 2010.

According to Uzbekistan State Statistics Committee, production of knitwork grew by 39.4% to 24.4 million units and stockinet 0 by 89.4% to 9,888 tonnes.

In the first half of 2010, Uzbekistan produced 91,300 pairs of hosiery. The growth rate made up 2.8 times year-on-year.

Production of ready-made garments made up 13 billion soums in January-June 2010, which is 11.6% less than the first half of 2010.

Enterprises of Uzbekistan produced 104,500 tonnes of raw silk threads (up 4.1 times) and 294,100 meters of carpets and carpet products.
