Russia foils attempt to smuggle birds from Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Department of Federal Service on Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of Novosibirsk region foiled an attempt to smuggle birds from Uzbekistan to Russia.
The press service of the department said that a person, who arrived in flight from Uzbekistan to Novosobirsk, tried to smuggle eight doves. The birds were found during veterinary and phytosanitary examination of luggage of passengers at Tolmachevo Airport.
It added that the person attempted to smuggle birds without any veterinary documents and permission of the Russian Federal Service on Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision.
Russia banned import of birds to the country to prevent entrance of dangerous diseases in its territory. Birds will be returned to Uzbekistan with next flight.
