Uzbek delegation attends SCO FMs summit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov participated at the session of the Council of the Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on 12-13 July 2013.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said that the session of the SCO Foreign Ministers was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan considered issues on deepening and improving multilateral cooperation within the SCO.
The sides exchanged opinion on actual international issues and situation in the region. The sides underlined that the member states have close or common approaches to situation in Afghanistan, Syria and Middle East, as well as Iran’s nuclear programme.
The session adopted several decisions related to upcoming session of the Council of the heads of states of the SCO in Bishkek.
Russian Foreign Ministry said that the sides considered Bishkek declaration and information statement of the summit, decision on action plan for 2013-2017 on implementation of the agreement on long-term good neighbourhood, friendship, and cooperation within the SCO, report of the SCO General Secretary and the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the SCO.
It was noted that the SCO intends to expand cooperation in fighting terrorism, illegal drug trafficking and organized crime, as well as ensuring international information safety.
