Govn’t: GDP of Uzbekistan grows by 8% in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan made up 8% in January-June 2013, the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan dedicated to the social-economic development of the country in the first half of 2013.
The volume of industrial production grew by 8.2%, agriculture production – 7.3% and construction works – 16.1%.
The State Budget of Uzbekistan was executed with 0.1% surplus to the GDP. The inflation did not exceed the forecasted parameters.
Uzbekistan increased consumer goods production by 14.4%, retail trade turnover – 14.6% and services – 12.1%.
The session said that the share of services to the GDP grew from 52.2% in January-June 2012 to 52.4% in the same period of 2013. The volume of produced localized goods rose 36.1% in the reporting period.
At the session, it was noted that some 15,800 new small businesses were created in Uzbekistan in the first six months of 2013.
Over 3.4 trillion soums were used due to all sources to implement the state programme “The Year of Well-being and Prosperity”.
Uzbekistan created 554,400 new jobs in January-June 2013, which 334,400 or 60.3% were created in rural areas. The real income of population rose by 16.3%.
The volume of used investments rose by 10.2%, including foreign investments and loans – 13.2% in the reporting period.
Uzbekistan commissioned 1,233 production objects and started to implement 141 new investment projects worth US$6.8 billionn in equivalent. Uzbekistan used 349.9 billion soums to construct and reconstruct automobile roads, which are part of the Uzbekistan national motorway.
The session underlined that Uzbekistan increased exports by 11.4% in January-June 2013 and recorded significant foreign trade surplus. The country also expanded nomenclature and geography of exported goods and services.
