Uzbekistan completes formation of electoral constituencies

Uzbekistan is carrying out careful preparation to elections to the parliament, district and city Councils of People’s Deputies, which will be held on 21 December 2014.
Narodnoye Slovo newspaper reported that electoral constituencies play important role to organization of elections based on principles of openness, transparency and objectiveness.
In line with the law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan”, the electoral constituencies are created by territorial election commissions on proposal of the local administrations.
Electoral constituencies will be also created at the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad, military bases, resorts, hospitals, remote areas and other places.
Electoral constituencies will be formed with number of 20 voters at least and 3,000 voters at the most. Currently, the process of completion of electoral constituencies is coming to end. It is expected that over 9,000 electoral constituencies will be formed to 21 December elections. The list of electoral constituencies with their locations will be published in local media.
