Uzbekistan to create new free economic zone

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will create another free economic zone. New economic zone will function in Urgut district of Samarkand region.
Interim President and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev proposed to create new economic zone within his trip to Samarkand region.
During his visit to the region, Mirziyayev visited industrial zone in Urgut district, where about 40 industrial enterprises, including 19 joint ventures, are operating here.
Shavkat Mirziyayev familiarized himself with the activities of the enterprises, which produce carpets and carpet products, synthetic fibers, plastic dishes, and other products.
The enterprises produced over 20 industrial products for 157.5 billion soums and exported products for US$10 million in 2015.
In 2017, it is planned to realize about 78 projects directed at production of industrial goods in the district in 2017.
Currently, there are three economic zones – free industrial-economic zone “Navoi” in Navoi region, special industrial zone “Angren” in Tashkent region and special industrial zone “Jizzakh” with the branch in Syrdarya district.
