Uzbekistan introduces maximum premium for medicaments’ prices

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan introduces maximum premium for prices of medicaments and fixed process for socially important medicaments and medical products from 1 January 2017.
On 1 November 2016, Interim President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev signed a resolution “On measures on further improving provision of medicaments and medical products to population”.
The resolution said that the maximum trade premiums for imported and locally produced medicaments and medical will be introduced in Uzbekistan from 1 January 2017.
The document said that maximum trade premium for wholesale medicaments trade will make up to 15% from purchased price and for retail trade – up to 20% from wholesale price.
From 1 January 2017, fixed prices for 167 socially important medicaments and 22 types of medical products, widely used in healthcare, will be introduced as well from 1 January 2017.
Republican commission on control over providing medicaments to medical establishments and population will determine prices based on global prices to medicaments and medical products on quarter basis.
All medical establishments will purchase medical products and medicaments on the prices, set by the Republican commission.
The Uzbek Government plans to introduce new list of minimal list of medicaments and medical products of the first necessity, which all drugs stores should have.
The resolution said that the legal entities, who violated price formation for medicaments and medical products, will lost their licenses.
Uzpharmsanoat entrusted to adopt measures on production of local import-replacing medical products and medicaments.
Uzbekistan plans to implement 67 investment projects for US$223.9 million in 2016-2020.
In line with the programme, it is planned to create new and modernize existing capacities of pharmaceutical enterprises in Uzbekistan. This will help to increase production of medicaments and medical products by 2.5 times.
