Uzbekistan Temir Yollari to complete construction of Yunusabad line of Tashkent metro

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Further development of metro, including completion of construction of Yunusabad line of Tashkent city and construction of new skytrain line in Sergeli district was entrusted to Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways). Construction works started in both objects.
Sunnat Jumabaev, head engineer of the project, said that specialists of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari are fully conducting construction of Shahristan and Turkistan stations with the length of 2.7 km. Currently, two pits and tunnels are modernized now. All construction works are carried out in line with the set norms and rules of modern time.
According to the press service of the company, the construction of skytrain metro in Sergeli district of Tashkent also started. It is planned six stations from existing Almazar station to final station in Sergeli distict. The length of the line is 7.1 km.
Jumabaev said it is planned to complete the project within four years. He noted that the final station of new line will be in current Sputnik district. The elevators and areas for waiting areas of trains will be created. All necessary construction materials are localized.
The first metro in Central Asia with the length of 12.2 km was launched in Tashkent in 1977 and it included 9 stations (current Chilanzar line). Currently, total length of 29 stations makes up 36.2 km. Last, Yunusabad line was launched in September 2001, which includes six stations with the length of 7.6 km.
