Uzbekistan implements projects for US$3.2bn in textile industry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to implement projects worth US$3.2 billion in textile industry till 2022, the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan said.
According to the ministry, 70 projects worth US$1 billion will be realized within the programme on ensuring structural reforms, modernization and diversification of production for 2015-2019.
So far, projects on production of dyed yarn on the basis of “Asaka Textile Production”, the compact yarn - Indorama Kokand Textile, hosiery - Jizzakh grant textile, modernization of Uzteks Tashkent and Humo Tukimachi.
Within the programme on further developing textile, garment and knitwear industry, it is planned to implement 140 projects with total investments of over US$2.2 billion in 2017-2021.
In last 10 years, Uzbekistan increased textile production by 4.3 times, export – 4 times. Share of ready products in production structure exceeded 65%.
