Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of Uzmetkombinat and the Afghan authorities are discussing the possibility of expanding supplies of the company’s products to the market of this country. Relevant negotiations were held during the recent national trade fair Made in Uzbekistan in Mazar-i-Sharif.
"Today Uzmetkombinat has export contracts with Afghanistan for the supply of rolled ferrous metals. More specifically, these are six contracts for US$98 million. To increase the volume of export deliveries, we showed the best samples of our products - metal, grinding balls, cold-drawn wire, basalt-based heat-insulating plates, chain-link, nails, electrodes and other products," Erkin Ibrahimov, head of the marketing department of the enterprise, said.
According to him, many new products presented at the exhibition aroused serious interest among Afghan entrepreneurs. In particular, great interest was shown in consumer goods, especially in steel enamelware. Also, local artisans expressed a desire to purchase brass tape for minting souvenirs.
"No new contracts for the supply of our products have yet been concluded. But the Afghan business community received full information about it, the price level and took a pause to study all the issues in detail. Then they intend to purchase a trial batch of our products, to make sure that it is in demand in the local market, and only after that contracts will be concluded," - the source said.
Uzmetkombinat is a leading enterprise of ferrous metallurgy in the country. In July 2017, the foreign company SFI Management Group was involved as a trust manager of the state share in the authorized capital of the plant.
