Mehrinigor Abdurashidova wins the Grand Prix of the Sharq Taronalari festival
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 August, the results of the XII Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival were summed up in Samarkand, in which 75 states participated this year, including 32 in the competition program.
For the first time, performers from Argentina, Myanmar and the Fiji Islands came to the festival. Performances of the artists were evaluated by a jury consisting of 11 representatives of international organizations, musicologists and composers from different countries.
Third-degree diplomas and a prize of US$2,000 were received by the Badakhshan team from Tajikistan, the Ayarhan team from Russia, and Uzbek citizens Azizjon Abduazimov and Ulugbek Elmurodzod, UzA reported.
The second place and a prize of US$3,500 were won by the ensembles “Archabil” from Turkmenistan and “Hatan” from Mongolia. The jury gave the first place and an award of US$5,000 to the duo Komuzchilar from Kyrgyzstan and Parviz Gasimov from Azerbaijan.
The Sharq Taronalari Grand Prix was awarded to Mehrinigor Abdurashidova, a student at the State Conservatory, who, in addition to the award, also received US$10,000.
The next Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival will be held in Samarkand in 2021.
