Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Every fall, Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), together with the University of Westminster (London), holds a series of events aimed at developing and strengthening inter-university relations, as well as demonstrating the academic and creative potential of students. This year, during the period from 13 to 15 November, the “Week of Partnership” was held at the WIUT, which combined the best traditions of the two universities.
Within the framework of the week, WIUT received honored guests from the University of Westminster (London) represented by rector Peter Bonfield and faculty. The Partnership Week was full of events such as an exhibition of students' creative works, a meeting of past graduates, a ceremony for honoring graduates, and an international conference with the participation of experts in the field of finance.
On the first day, an exhibition of university students was held under the auspices of the II Tashkent International Biennale of Applied Art. The exhibition combines more than 100 photographs and artworks of students of the WIUT. For the first time, live installations of national costumes were presented at the exposition, where students demonstrated to the foreign guests the originality of the national costumes of Uzbekistan. Costumes from different eras and regions of Uzbekistan were provided by the Kamoliddin Bekzod National Institute of Arts and Design and the Republican Specialized Art School. Students of WIUT took part in the show as models.
On the second day of the “Partnership Week”, an international conference was held on the topic “Current State and Development of the Integrated Financial Services Sector in Uzbekistan”. The conference was organized jointly with the University of Westminster (London) and the Institute for Fiscal Research under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The main objective of this conference was to discuss a number of issues on a wide range of financial services, including existing challenges, priority areas and best practices in the financial services sector in Uzbekistan and beyond. The conference was attended by a special guest from the UK, Professor Harry Tapar, who shared his experience in developing the banking industry and introducing artificial intelligence technologies in Central Asia.
On the same day in the evening, WIUT opened its doors to graduates of past years, creating a friendly atmosphere in which students plunged into fond memories of the time spent in the university. A 2007 graduate, Jalol Nasirov, shared his professional experience and how the knowledge and skills gained at the university influenced his success. The event was accompanied by a presentation of the Alumni Association, communication between different generations of students and pleasant music.
The Partnership Week concluded with the solemn ceremony of honoring 2019 graduates. This year, more than 700 graduates of undergraduate and graduate programs became the main participants in the event. The ceremony of honoring the next generation of graduates was attended by both the employees of the WIUT and representatives of the University of Westminster (London), as well as relatives and relatives of the graduates themselves. Words of parting words and wishes for further successes were voiced by the rectors of two universities.
The above activities are the result of a long-term joint collaboration between the University of Westminster (London) and the Westminster International University in Tashkent. Universities set themselves strategic goals for implementing projects to train professional and competitive specialists in the labor market. The result of the “Partnership Week” was the validation of the curriculum for the new academic year, which is a guarantee of further cooperation between the universities of Westminster in Tashkent and the UK.
