Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In order to carry out coal mining activities and implement investment projects in this direction, the Boysun site of the Baysun coal field was transformed into a subsidiary company of Boysunkumir LLC under Shargunkumir JSC.

In 1990-1995, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources (Goskomgeologiya) based on the prepared and approved report on the results of exploration work carried out on the Yuzhny site of the Baysun coal deposit, Uzkumirsanoat ITLI LLC (designer) developed a working draft for the extraction of up to 50 thousand tons of coal per year. However, after the passage of audit No. 1 with a length of 511 meters as a result of underground geological damage, layers of coal were not reached. Therefore, in order to determine the location and direction of the coal seam of the Baysunskoye Yuzhny deposit, additional exploration and survey work was carried out. According to the results of which, after passing through adit No. 1, a coal seam with a thickness of up to 2.5 meters was recorded in the interval of 592 meters.

Currently, in order to prepare a coal deposit and increase the pace of coal mining, horizontal and inclined mine workings passing through a coal seam are being drilled. According to the specialists of Shargunkumir JSC, the project to produce 50 thousand tons of coal at the Yuzhny site of the Baysun coal field will be implemented before the end of 2020.

In addition, in order to attract foreign direct investment and bring coal production to 450 thousand tons per year, the implementation of the project “Construction of the Boysun coal deposit in the Central and East sections of the Baysun coal deposit” is envisaged.

Currently, on the basis of the approved technical specifications for this project, a feasibility study is being carried out in a timely manner and potential foreign investors are being attracted to determine the preliminary conditions and sources of financing.

At the same time, the issue of exporting high-quality coal products of the SS and T brand mined by Shargunkumir JSC at the Shargunskoy and Boysunskoye coal deposits is being considered. In the future, the company's goal is to open new coal deposits in the Surkhandarya region, to further increase the rate of production of high-quality coal using mechanized mining technologies.
