Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- For a number of years, Uzbekistan has been demonstrating sustainable rates of economic development at the level of 6% of GDP growth. Also, to ensure the further development of the economy, it is necessary to accelerate the increase in the competitiveness of production, including by reducing the cost of energy resources as a result of the widespread introduction of modern energy-saving technologies.
Energy efficiency issues not only in terms of production, processing and transportation, but also in consumption require the use of qualitatively new tools.
One of the examples of measures to accelerate the processes of modernization of production and the introduction of energy efficient technologies is the Project "Increasing the energy efficiency of industrial enterprises" under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This is reported by the information service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan
The project has been operating since 2011. The project uses concessional loans from the World Bank - 325 million dollars. in equivalent, as well as funds of commercial banks in Uzbekistan. Thanks to this, the majority of energy-intensive enterprises have the opportunity to significantly reduce the consumption of electricity and natural gas in the production of products.
Since 2011, 101 investment projects have been implemented at more than 43 industrial enterprises. The implementation of these sub-projects has brought savings in electricity in the amount of more than 524 million kWh and natural gas - 229 million cubic meters per year. In addition, participating companies have reduced air emissions by over 580,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Projects are implemented in such energy-intensive industries as: oil and gas, mining, chemical, electric power, food, construction and processing. So, at the enterprises of JSC "Uzkimyosanoat" 15 projects were implemented, JSC "Uzbekneftgaz" - 12 projects, JSC "Uzmetkombinat" - 10 projects, in the field of Uz building materials - 17 projects, including among cement producers - 14 projects, at small and medium enterprises - 15 projects, etc.
Financing of subprojects is carried out through six banks of the Republic of Uzbekistan:
National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan, JSCB "AsakaBank", JSCB "SanoatQurilishBank", JSCB "HamkorBank", JSCB "AsiaAllianceBank", JSCB "Infinbank".
In addition, the European Investment Bank has now approved the allocation of 100 million euros, which in turn will create additional opportunities for financing energy efficiency projects for both large and small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.
Favorable conditions are now being created in our country, when every domestic manufacturer has the opportunity to modernize its production, including using preferential credit funds within the framework of the project "Improving the energy efficiency of industrial enterprises."
It should be noted that the Project will last until 2023. Industrial enterprises of the republic can apply to one of the participating banks in order to obtain a loan. To do this, it is enough to submit an application and, upon receiving approval from the World Bank, use a loan on favorable and convenient terms.
Taking a step towards improving energy efficiency in manufacturing is easy. But the savings and the results obtained will be felt for a long time in large, small and medium-sized enterprises.
