Former EBRD head receives the Dustlik order

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 October this year, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade hosted the ceremony of awarding the Dustlik order to S. Chakrabarti, who served as President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) from July 2012 to July 2020.
The ceremony was held by the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov.
In the corresponding Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed on July 9 of this year, S. Chakrabarti’s merits “in establishing strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation” between Uzbekistan and the EBRD are noted.
In addition, the document emphasized the contribution of S. Chakrabarti "to increasing the efficiency of the program of socio-economic reforms carried out in the country, as well as supporting the formation of a favorable investment climate and business environment in the Republic."
It is also worth noting that since 1 October 2020, S. Chakrabarti took up the duties of an adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on economic development, effective management and international cooperation.
During the ceremony, S. Chakrabarti expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan: “I am twice filled with pride - firstly, it is a great honor for me to be awarded such a high award, and secondly, I am extremely glad that I have a practical opportunity to contribute to the implementation reform program of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as his adviser. I am ready to make every effort to further develop Uzbekistan and strengthen its image on the world stage. "
Following the ceremony, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for further interaction and priority tasks in the framework of the upcoming cooperation.
