The attention of those present at the webinar was also drawn to a number of important regional initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan - the creation under the auspices of the UN of the Regional Center for the Development of Transport and Communication Connectivity and the holding of an International Conference on the achievements and prospects of interaction within the framework of the regional Joint Plan for the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. It was reported that these proposals are dictated by the fact that fundamental changes are currently taking place in Central Asia and an atmosphere of good-neighborliness and mutual trust, friendship and respect has been created in relations between states.
It was especially noted that Uzbekistan considers Afghanistan as an integral part of Central Asia and the Tashkent High-Level Conference on Afghanistan, held in March 2018 marked a new stage in mobilizing the efforts of the world community to resolve the Afghan problem. Taking into account that the issues of establishing peace and stability in a neighboring state should remain in the center of attention of the UN, the head of our state initiated the creation of a permanent committee on Afghanistan under the Organization, the main task of which should be to promote the socio-economic development of this country.
Speaking about another important issue on the UN agenda - environmental challenges, in particular the disastrous consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea, in connection with which the Aral Sea zone became the epicenter of an ecological catastrophe, the head of our diplomatic mission informed the participants of the event about the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to adopt a special the resolution of the UN General Assembly on declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovations and technologies, and declare the day of adoption of this important document the International Day for the Protection and Restoration of Ecological Systems.

In this regard, it was reported about the initiative of the head of our state to define the problems of eliminating poverty and fighting poverty as one of the main topics of the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly, as well as to hold a Global Summit dedicated to these issues.
