The "BBC Cardiff Singer of the World" International contest of young opera performers was held in Cardiff – the capital of Wales, Jahon reports.

 

Since 1983 the contest is organized every 2 years. A representative of Uzbekistan Dmitriy Vargin took part in the Cardiff opera contest for the first time this year.

 

Born in Samarkand, Yargin is a graduating student of the Samarkand Music College, the Tashkent State Conservatory, and also the Hamburg Academy of Music and Theatre. At the moment he performs for the Rein Opera House in Dusseldorf, Germany.

 

The performances of the contest "BBC Cardiff Singer of the World" was broadcasted o­n several British TV and radio channels, and also covered in the print media of the UK.

 

In an interview following his performance Dmitriy Vargin said: "I am proud that I represent Uzbekistan in this famous Biennale. Wherever I would participate I will try to demonstrate all the best, which was taught to me by the school of classic music in Uzbekistan".
