Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 June 2021, a briefing was held at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications on the details of the events of the international business forum "Expanding the Economic Empowerment of Women in Central Asia and Afghanistan on the Path of Sustainable Development", which will be held on 15 June this year in Tashkent.
At a briefing organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry for the Support of Mahalla and Family, as well as a number of relevant ministries and organizations, the participants of the event were provided with the necessary information about the events held within the framework of the international business forum “Empowering Economic Empowerment of Women in Central Asia and Afghanistan on the path of sustainable development ”, as well as its socio-political, economic and spiritual significance.
As you know, the head of state, in his speech at the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council on 22 February 2021, spoke about the dialogue between the leading women of Central Asian countries and the regional women’s business forum.
This international women’s business forum, held in our country within the framework of this initiative, should unite the women of Central Asia and Afghanistan to achieve a common goal.
It should be noted that the state is carrying out a number of important works in order to fully support women and protect their legitimate interests. In particular, under the Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Gender Equality, a "Women’s Club" was created to pay special attention to measures to prepare active women with the appropriate skills and abilities for leadership positions, comprehensive support of women entrepreneurs, reduce crime rates, especially in attitude of women.
It is noteworthy that today the number of women-deputies is 32% of the total number of deputies of the Legislative Chamber, and women-senators - 23% of the members of the Senate. The number of women-deputies in local Kengashes is 25%. According to this indicator, the parliament of Uzbekistan ranks 44th among 190 parliaments in the world.
Over the past 3 years, employment has been provided for 329,228 women, including more than 83,000 women living in difficult living conditions.
Over the past period, more than 224 thousand women have been allocated preferential loans totaling 6.9 trillion soums for the development of women’s entrepreneurship.
Particular attention is paid to the development of entrepreneurship, centers for women’s entrepreneurship have been created in each region, preferential credit lines have been opened in the relevant funds and commercial banks.
