Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO, Austria) has published the next country report "Industry Competitiveness Index - 2022".
According to the report, Uzbekistan took 89th place among 154 countries with a score of 0.017 and improved its rating by 5 positions, which, in accordance with the index methodology, allowed it to move into the category of countries with a middle quintile of industrial development.
The report of the "Industry Competitiveness Index - 2022" used statistical data for 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the development of industry in the world, the average index was 0.062 or -0.006 from the previous value.
According to the index methodology, the results of the report "Industrial Competitiveness Index - 2022" are formed on the basis of 2020 statistical data.
As a result of ongoing reforms and industrial development carried out in our country, according to the index report, positive changes were recorded in 6 out of 8 indicators, while a decrease was recorded in 2 indicators.
The volume of industrial production of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 3 years increased by 1.5 times from 235.3 trillion soums in 2018 to 368.7 trillion soums in 2020. In the structure of production, the largest share falls on manufacturing enterprises (82.0%), the volume of production of which amounted to 305.9 trillion soums.
Also among the CIS countries, Uzbekistan ranks 4th after Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The top 5 world rankings included Germany (0.416), China (0.369), Ireland (0.347), Japan (0.325) and the Republic of Korea (0.324).
