Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Uzbekistan, Russian is one of the most popular foreign languages at a conversational level, it is spoken by 50% to 80% of the population. The reasons for such popularity are both the high demand for Russian-speaking specialists in the labor market and the launch of joint Uzbek-Russian enterprises.

In order for the citizens of Uzbekistan to learn the Russian language without leaving their country, the Chuvash State Pedagogical University named after Yakovlev (Russia), with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, opened the Center for the Study of the Russian Language and Culture named after Academician G. N. Volkov on the basis of the Andijan State Pedagogical Institute (Uzbekistan).

The center is designed to help the people of Uzbekistan not only learn the Russian language, but also integrate into the new language environment for them. To solve this problem, when developing the program of online courses, the most effective educational methods were used, combining theoretical training and working out the acquired knowledge in dialogue with native speakers. In addition, the Center provides wide access to the cultural, historical and literary heritage of Russia, the methodology and practice of Russian education, modern creative ideas and programs.

According to the announced goals, only at the first stage it is planned to teach the Russian language to about 200 residents of the country.

University teachers, associate professors Irina Gavrilova and senior researcher Maxim Ganin, while in Uzbekistan, met with more than 200 students of the Andijan State Pedagogical Institute (Uzbekistan) and more than 50 students of the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages, held a presentation of the project and educational courses, trained students to work in distance education system for better mastering of materials.
