Uzbekistan calls Kyrgyzstan to cut gas supplies over debts

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has sent a telegram to their Kyrgyzstan on possible cut-off of gas supplies to Kyrgyz consumers because of debt, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Daniyar Usenov told a government meeting today.
Kyrgyz Prime Minister said in November, the joint-stock company Kyrgyzgaz supplied the population with gas worth US$5 million and collected US$4 million. Over the first two weeks of December, the population was supplied with gas worth US$4 million, but only US$2 million was collected. Thus, customer debts over a month and a half total US$3 million, he said.
The Government of Kyrgyzstan adopted decision to allocate an interest-free loan for 100 million som to the state company Zhilkommunsoyuz on condition that it would repay it until 1 April 2010. The resources will be directed to repay gas debts.
