GM Uzbekistan to start production of Chevrolet Orlando in 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- GM Uzbekistan, an Uzbek-US joint venture, will start production of new automobile in the first quarter of 2014.
The joint venture is planning to start production of family mini-van Chevrolet Orlando next year. The serial production of the mini-van will be launched in the first quarter of 2014, UzA reported.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov familiarized with one of samples of new model during their visit to GM Powertrain Uzbekistan in Tashkent.
They also got acquainted with automobiles, trucks, tractors and other agriculture equipment, produced in Uzbekistan, which were showcased at the venture.
Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov was impressed with the new family mini-van Chevrolet Orlando, production of which was mastered at GM Uzbekistan.
The report did not disclose technical parameters of the car. According to official website of Chevrolet, Chevrolet Orlando is a five-door and seven-seat compact MPV, which was created on platform of Chevrolet Cruze.
The space of the automobile, designed for family, has three rows of seats in any modification. The height of saloon in third row is superior compared to competitors in this class.
The saloon can be transformed into large storage zone with the volume of 958 liters (if five seats left) and 1,594 liters (2 seats) with straight floor.
Currently General Motors produces this model in South Korea, Russia, Venezuela and Vietnam.
