Japanese delegation pays visit to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received a delegation of Japan led by the Member of Parliament, former Japan Ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan Kyoko Nakayama on 31 March 2014.
During the meeting, it was underlined that visit of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to Japan in February 2011 gave new stimulus to bilateral cooperation, boosted political dialogue and expanded interaction in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other regions.
The sides exchanged opinion on current and perspectives of development of Uzbek-Japanese relations, including inter-parliamentary exchange, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Fumihiko Kato attended the meeting.
The delegation of Japan also visited Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan (MFERIT) on the same day.
The sides discussed the issues of further extending bilateral cooperation. Special attention was paid to the development of tourist exchange, with regard to the resumption of direct flights Tashkent-Tokyo.
The Uzbek side expressed sincere gratitude to Kyoko Nakayama for her significant contribution and active participation in strengthening the relations of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.
