IUT hosts meeting with CISCO representative within IUT Girls project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Regional business manager of CISCO Nargiza Kushakova held a meeting with the students of Inha University in Tashkent (IUT) on 17 May 2016.
The meeting within the project IUT Girls, which is directed at attracting girls to information-communication technologies (ICT). Within the project, it is planned to hold meetings with the female professionals, who work in ICT sector, to motivate female students to study new technologies.
It is worth to mention that only 15% of IUT students are female and such projects are directed at increasing their share gradually.
According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Only around 3% of total female graduates study ICT fields, compared with around 10% of male graduates.
During the meeting, Nargiza Kushakova briefed the participants on activities of the worldwide leader in IT – CISCO and on development of new technologies, as well as training of engineers.
She underlined that CISCO also supports several initiatives on increasing of number of females in the IT-sector.
At the meeting, it was underlined that number of females in IT sector is growing, which is connected with several factors.
IT sector can offer flexible working schedule, which is important for females with the families. IT specialists do not necessarily sit in the office, since they can work remotely.
Females can use their logic and creative thinking to contribute to the development of modern society. IT specialists do not necessarily go abroad to earn good money. They can provide their services to global companies from home.
