Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with the President of Russia Vladmir Putin in Tashkent on 23 June 2016.
Russian President arrived in Tashkent to take part at the meeting of the Heads of State Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Uzbek and Russian leaders discussed the status of Russian-Uzbekistani relations and future prospects, as well as interaction within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said: “I would like to reaffirm that Uzbekistan’s preparation for the SCO summit deserves high marks.”
“Naturally, the de facto integration of such large countries as India and Pakistan into the SCO as permanent members is a major event in the history of our organization at its anniversary, 15th summit. And history will record that this event occurred in Tashkent,” he said.
