Uzbekistan destroys 1.43 tonnes of narcotics

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan destroyed over 1.43 tonnes of drugs, which were seized from illegal turnover.
The event was dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is marked on 26 June.
At the blast-furnace of one of Tashkent enterprises, some 145 kg of heroin and 665 kg of opium, as well as large volume of other drugs such as marihuana, hashish, poppy straws, hemp, psychotropic medicaments.
According to National information-analytical center on control over drugs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan seized 2.51 tonnes of drugs in 2015 against 2.29 tonnes of drugs in 2014, the Uzbek National Information and Analytical Center for Drug Control said in its yearly analytical review.
Some 6,648 drug-related crimes in 2015 compared to 6,698 crimes in 2014.
According to official data, Uzbekistan has destroyed over 55.44 tonnes of drugs since 1994.
