Uzbekistan plans to export textile, garment and knitwear for US$1.1bn in 2016

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to export textile, garment and knitwear products for over US$1.1 billion, the press service Pravda Vostoka reported.
According to newspaper, Uzbekistan has attracted foreign investments for US$2.5 billion to the sector.
In last several years, Uzbekistan realized over 200 projects with participation of foreign investors from Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, India and other partner countries.
The country commissioned high technological modern textile enterprises, including full circle of production – from processing of cotton fibre to production of ready goods.
If in 1994, there were only three enterprises with foreign capital and their share in total production was just 2%, now their number exceeds 200 and their share in production reached 80%, the report said.
Industrial capacities of textile enterprise on processing cotton fibre rose from 7% from total production in 1991 to 45% in 2015.
Currently, Uzbekistan has 40 trade houses abroad, which realize products of textile enterprises of Uzbekistan. The enterprises of Uzbekistan export its goods to over 50 states, including countries of the EU, CIS, Latin America, South Korea, China, Singapore, Iran, Israel and the USA. The country also entered the markets of Pakistan, Georgia, Croatia and Nigeria.
