Kazakh envoy hold talks at Uzbek Agriculture Ministry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador of Kazkahstan to Uzbekistan Erik Utembaev held negotiations with the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Teshaev.
The sides underlined that two countries should further expand bilateral cooperation. The sides discussed issues of boosting border trade-economic cooperation and inter-regional cooperation.
The Uzbek side expressed interest in Kazakh project on creation of cluster pilot production capacities in agriculture sphere in border regions.
Kazakh envoy called to organize Forum of inter-regional cooperation of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to create dialogue platform and bases for expanding cooperation among businesses and states.
Teshaev noted that currently agriculture sector of Uzbekistan accounts about 17% of GDP, 99.9% of farms are non-governmental. Uzbekistan realizes 20 large investment projects for about US$1 billion.
At the meeting, two sides discussed economic cooperation in context of implementing the strategy of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for 2007-2016. Kazakh envoy said that currently the countries are developing new strategy of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for 2017-2020, which also includes measures on boosting cooperation in agriculture industry.
The sides also discussed issues related to Aral Sea crisis.
