Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan (CCI) hosted an Uzbek-British Business Forum and Cooperation Exchange within the visit of the British business circles to Uzbekistan.
The delegation of Great Britain was headed by the co-chairperson of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) Barbara Hay, the CCI said.
Barbara Hay said that the countries have huge potential of cooperation in various sectors of economy. She underlined that arrival of the British delegation to Uzbekistan is evidence for growing interest and intension of the British side to expand mutual beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan, first of all, in trade-economic, investment and technological spheres.
The visit was aimed at establishing cooperation between business circles of two states via visiting industrial companies of Uzbekistan and taking part at the Uzbek-British business forum and cooperation exchange.
The British delegation included representatives of companies, working in power, mining and chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, education and consulting services.
Great Britain is one of the largest trade-economic partners of Uzbekistan in Europe. The volume of trade between two states made up US$105.7 million in 2015 and US$106.8 million in January-September 2016.
Currently, 544 firms and companies with the British capital operate in Uzbekistan, while 71 British companies accredited their offices in the country.
During the meeting, the Uzbek and British businesses shared their views on development of cooperation between two states.
