Alcohol prices to hike in Uzbekistan from 1 January

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will increase minimal wholesale and retail prices for alcohol, excluding beer, from 1 January 2017.
New prices were approved by joint resolution of the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan from 29 November 2016.
According to the resolution, the minimal wholesale price for wine for producers makes up 5,400 soums per liter (+16.6%), while minimal retail price – 6,500 soums (+16.9%).
The minimal wholesale price for vodka and other alcohol products set at 12,900 soums per liter (+18.6%), a retail price –15,500 soums (+18.7%).
The minimal wholesale price for cognac grew by 19.2% to 17,200 soums per liter (+19.2%), while retail price – by 18.9% to 20,600 soums.
According to the legislation, it is banned to sell alcohol products at the price lower than set ones. The violation of the rules will lead to fines, while responsible people will be attracted to responsibility.
