Rustam Azimov holds negotiations with Tajik President

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and co-chairperson of the Uzbek-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperation Rustam Azimov held negotiations with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon on 27 December 2016.
Rakhmon said that the visit of the Uzbek delegation to Tajikistan is an important step on further developing and deepening inter-governmental relations.
Tajik leader said that Tajikistan positively assesses initiative of the Uzbek side on resumption of air communication between two nations.
He added that Tajikistan supports further improving relations in rehabilitation of railways, decreasing tariffs for railway freight transportation, resuming import and export of electricity, expanding of cooperation in agriculture sector, simplifying visa system and solving border issues.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on current state and perspectives of developing bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, transport and communication, water, energy, culture, border protection and developing cooperation in these areas.
It was noted that over 100 documents form agreement-legal framework of intergovernmental relations of two states and their full implementation meets interest of both states.
It was noted that important and actual issues will be discussed at the Intergovernmental commission of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on trade-economic cooperation and the sides will adopt efficient steps on further developing relations between two nations.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged opinion on situation in the region, fighting terrorism, extremism, illegal drug turnover and trans-boundary crime.
