Programme on developing automobile transport services in cities and rural areas adopted

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution on measures on further improving system of providing transport services to population and passenger bus communication in cities and rural areas on 10 January.
Uzbek leader approved a programme on further development of automobile transport services in cities and rural areas for 2017-2021.
It is expected that over 840 billion soums of leasing companies, commercial banks, own resources of investors and others will be directed in next five years to finance the programme.
Within the programme, it is planned to open new 303 bus routes, including 240 in suburban and long-distance communication (79.2%), passing by the countryside.
At the same time, old routes, which were closed due to bus shortages, will be reopened, according to the programme.
Uzbekistan plans to purchase over 8,600 passenger automobiles in next five years, including 5,700 micro-buses of general use, in next five years.
It is also planned to construct automobile station on standard projects.
Stage-by-state, it is planned to introduce GPS-tracking system for buses and microbuses to ensure quality of services, the document said.
The programme envisages measures on introduction of the system of electronic payment of fees with use of banking cards in Nukus and regional centers.
The resolution said that the leasing companies and transportation companies will not pay fee for purchase of new microbuses, which is paid to Republican Road Fund.
Uzbek President also provided some tax preferences for purchase of equipment, spare parts, GPS-trackers, etc.
