Uzbekistan plans to develop production of licorice

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to adopt a programme to create plantations for production of licorice in Karakalpakstan on 2017-2021.
The programme will be adopted with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures on increasing production and industrial processing of licorice in Uzbekistan”. The draft of the resolution was published at the single portal of interactive state services for discussion.
Within the programme it is planned to develop natural areas for production of licorice and determine the volume of quotes for production of licorice.
It is expected that unused free areas will be determined to allocate to the industrial plantations for production of licorice.
Uzbek leader ordered to develop proposals on creation of new industrial plantations and the volume of production of licorice on both natural fields and industrial plantations.
It is also planned to conduct scientific researches to develop technologies on production of ready export-oriented products with high added value with use of licorice.
The Government plans to provide tax and customs preferences for imported equipment, spare parts and components to farmers till 1 January 2022 for creation of industrial licorice plantations.
