Uzbek FM holds talks with executive chairman of government of Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 January 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul.
The sides discussed perspective directions of further development of cooperation in trade-economic, transport-communications and investment spheres, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
As has been noted at the meeting, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have sufficient capacity to increase mutual trade turnover, which in January-October 2016 amounted US$429 million. In this regard, the parties attach great importance to the lunch of operations of trade house of foreign trade company “Uzsanoateksport” in Afghanistan.
Abdullah Abdullah thanked the Uzbek side for construction and commissioning of the only railway line in Afghanistan Hairatan – Mazari-Sharif in the shortest period and helping in the training of highly qualified engineer-technical staff.
During the meeting the parties also discussed the prospects for the implementation of new joint projects in the field of energy, socio-economic revival of Afghanistan, objects of infrastructure.
