Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Afghanistan are planning to increase bilateral trade turnover up to US$1.5 million in near future.
Officials of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed a bilateral trade and economic “road map”, the implementation of which will increase the commodity turnover up to US$1.5 billion.
The document was signed within the official visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov to Afghanistan.
On 24 January 2017 the governmental delegation of Uzbekistan had a meeting with a Senior Adviser to the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on Economic Affairs Humayun Qayumi and Special Representative of the President on the development of cooperation with the countries of Central Asia and Russia is Mohammad Shakir Kargar .
On 23-24 January members of the Uzbek delegation representing industry associations and economic entities held separate bilateral talks with their Afghan counterparts in Kabul.
During the visit, the sides signed the protocol of intent on further development of cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure, providing the Uzbek side participation in joint railway and road projects; the protocol of intent on the establishment of the Joint Commission on Security; Memorandum of Understanding between Ministries of Foreign Affairs; the agreement between the Ministries of the Interior on cooperation in combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors.
The representatives of business structures of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed mutually beneficial contracts for the supply of medicines and medical products, “Ambulance” cars, wheat, electrical appliances totaling over US$49.3 million.
The official opening of the trading house of JSC “Uzsanoateksport” was also held in Kabul. The building provides for the establishment of the trading house a permanent exhibition of products of Uzbek producers “Made in Uzbekistan”.
